The Fine Textured Inky Type of Imperial Translucent Black Omphacite Jadeite Jade from Kachin State

This type of  highly translucent black Omphacite jadeite is extremely rare due to the environmental conditions necessary for this type of translucent super dark green crystalized material to naturally occur deep within the earth's crust. The only known place for this material is in the mountains of Kachin State, Myanmar. This unique material appears a shiny true black while under overhead lights/daylight and a brilliant emerald green when placed over a transmitted light source.

How Rare is Imperial Translucent Black Omphacite Jadeite Jade?

Far rarer than both diamonds and rubies is that of Imperial Translucent Black Omphacite Jadeite Jade. Only a fraction of the jadeite found in Myanmar is black of which only about 5% is of a fine enough texture that it could be made into jewelry (cabochons). Of that 5% of jewelry quality black jadeite, only about 1% is translucent in nature that turns a brilliant emerald green when viewed over a transmitted light source.
