Stunning 3.2 ct., Unheated/Untreated, Burmese Star Ruby, Oval Cut Cabochon Gemstone set in Brass Holder Ring for Display

This is a Gorgeous Ruby is from the mines located in the Mogok region of Central Myanmar, a location that produces the world's best rubies. This stone is just shy of 3.2 carats with a very sharp star effect making it a valuable investment, sure to appreciate in value in the years to come. 

Along with a Star asterism this ruby also shows a hexagonal crystal formation inside the stone, a feature characteristic to non-heated rubies (Corundum).

This stone is also unique for the fact that In certain lighting the stone shows a clear semi translucent-red color.

In other lighting conditions however, the stone shows its inside, hexagonal crystal shape combined with a six ray star asterism.

Yet still in other lighting conditions the stone shows only the lines of a six-ray star.

Truly an inspiring piece that shows just how complex mother nature can be.

This Star Ruby is from old stock brought into Thailand from Burma 30 years ago through Hmong Hill Tribe trade routes that have existed for hundreds of years.

This stone displays a nice 6 ray star when shown in transmitted light. It is set in a brass ring holder that allows the gem to be worn and displayed until a more durable gold or silver ring can be made for it.

Star Rubies are beautiful gemstones that display a six-ray star that seems to glide magically across the surface of the gem when the latter is moved.

This six-ray star is caused due to an optical phenomena known as "Asterism". The term "Asterism" is derived from the Greek word "aster", which means star, so asterism is commonly referred to as "star" or "star-effect".
